Choosing the right lash adhesive
Adhesive is the single biggest factor in retention, and the right one depends on your room more than your skill level. Every cyanoacrylate glue cures using moisture in the air, so humidity and temperature change how fast it sets. If your room runs humid, a slower-setting adhesive gives you time to place a fan without shock-curing; in dry conditions a faster adhesive keeps fans from sliding before they grab. Track your room with a hygrometer and pick a glue rated for that range instead of guessing.
Beginners generally do better with a 1.5–3 second dry time, which allows repositioning. Experienced artists working quickly can move to 0.5–1 second. Use fresh drops every 15–20 minutes, store unopened bottles cool and sealed, and write the open date on the bottle — most adhesives lose performance 4–8 weeks after opening regardless of how much is left. Pair the glue with a primer and a bonder if clients report early shedding.
- New artists
- 1.5–3 second dry time for repositioning room.
- Fast placement
- 0.5–1 second dry time once your speed is consistent.
- Retention issues
- Check humidity first, then primer, cleanser, and bottle age.
